Handmade wooden purse

My woodworking emphasizes traditional techniques, hand tools, natural materials and finishes. I celebrate history, design, and botany through woodworking and I have a particular fondness for wooden sailing vessels. I am available for custom commissions.

Trophy Case — Trophy Case Lido 14 Class Association. Pine, walnut. 33.745830, -118.116761 The original commission was to extend the base of the trophy to provide space for additional name plaques. To protect the delicate elements of the trophy, I also built a protective case complete with carrying handle and locking latches.

California relief map frame — California relief map frame Poplar and teak. 37.867634, -122.497741 As a geographer and lifelong Californian, this piece has a very special place in my heart. The relief map is a Hubbard Scientific 1st edition from 1993. I found it outside of San Francisco City College and it holds the record for the coolest thing I have found on the side of the road. The frame features splined corners and an inner frame made of teak salvaged from my Lido 14 sailing dinghy.

Tool Chest — Tool Chest Through mortise and tenons. Cedar. 37.870395, -122.254462 I built this Japanese-style tool chest to store my hand tools. It features the signature interlocking locking wedge to secure the lid, sculpted carrying handles, and custom interior fittings for my tools. Keeping with tradition and to reduce weight, the tool chest is made of cedar.

Arques School — Arques School Fundamentals of traditional boatbuilding. 37.867634, -122.497741 In the summer of 2025 I attended classes at The Arques School of Traditional Boatbuilding in Sausalito, CA. The mission of the school is to restore and replicate sailing vessels of historical significance to the San Francisco Bay. This opportunity was made possible by the Ambassador Scholarship provided by the Cerritos College Woodworking Program. View presentation

Sunrise Cabin — Sunrise Cabin 120 sq ft tiny cabin. Antelope Valley, CA 33.666828, -117.878607 I built this 120 square foot tiny cabin on 5 acres of high desert near the Antelope Valley Poppy Reserve. I visit in the winter and spring to enjoy the incredible sunrises and sunsets, and occasionally to woodwork in the peace of the high desert.
